How long does new plaster take to dry before painting?
It depends on the thickness, the time of year and how well the room is ventilated. A fresh skim coat usually needs at least a week, and often longer in winter. It is ready when it has turned an even light pink with no dark patches. The first coat should be a watered-down mist coat. We will advise on timings for your room.
Can you plaster over Artex?
Usually, yes. Artex ceilings can be sealed and skimmed to give a smooth finish. Textured coatings applied before 2000 can contain asbestos, so if the house is older we will recommend testing before any sanding, scraping or removal.
Do you do full house replastering?
We mainly handle room-sized plastering and repairs rather than whole-house or new-build jobs. If your project is larger, call us and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
Can you do the joinery and decorating as well?
Yes. We regularly refit skirting and architrave, make good door linings, and carry out the painting and decorating after plastering. That means one team for the whole room.
